Founder & Vision
Portrait of Tysha K. Pittman, founder and perinatal mental-health clinician

Meet the Founder

I'm Tysha K. Pittman, MS, LMHC (FL), LPC (GA) — a perinatal mental-health clinician, doctoral candidate researching perinatal experiences, and a born-and-raised Brevard County resident. My work is grounded in two decades of supporting families as a Pre-K Teacher, School Counselor, and maternal-health advocate.

After becoming a mother after age 35, I experienced firsthand how limited postpartum support can be. I founded Pittman Postpartum Care Cottage to ensure that women in our community have access to trauma-aware recovery, compassionate guidance, and evidence-based care during the most vulnerable and transformative stages of maternal life.

My mission is simple:

To create a restorative, clinically supported postpartum environment where women feel seen, safe, and supported.

The Need

The Postpartum Gap

Across the United States — and especially here in Brevard County — postpartum care remains one of the most overlooked areas of maternal health. Mothers are discharged within 24–48 hours, yet the most critical recovery period occurs during days 3–10, when complications, breastfeeding challenges, and emotional shifts peak.

Families often face:

  • Limited postpartum support after hospital discharge
  • Rising postpartum depression and anxiety
  • Breastfeeding difficulties without immediate help
  • Lack of trauma-aware recovery environments
  • Minimal guidance for nutrition and healing
  • Insufficient support for miscarriage recovery and fertility transitions

PPCC was created to close this gap — with care that is clinically informed, culturally responsive, and rooted in community.

Mission

Why PPCC Matters

Every mother deserves a gentle, supported transition into postpartum life. PPCC offers a sanctuary where healing is honored, rest is prioritized, and maternal mental health is supported.

PPCC matters because:

  • Women deserve more than a rushed hospital discharge
  • Postpartum recovery should be trauma-aware and culturally informed
  • Mental-health support must be accessible and stigma-free
  • Families thrive when mothers are supported
  • Community-rooted care strengthens maternal-health outcomes

This is not just a service — it is a movement to transform postpartum care in Brevard County.
